about

No claims of one China unity can justify the Communist Party's brutality toward dissenting views. Academics, journalists, and advocates of all variety face peril when speaking against the party line. Hong Kong's democracy has become an autocratic farce. Taiwan faces escalating intimidation. Xinjiang is an occupied land.

No historical precedent can justify Uighur genocide. Families are split. Adults are put in concentration camps, then to forced labor. Children are shipped away, removed from Uighur culture, as the Party sees fit. Forced sterilizations ensure a birthrate crash.

The Party would have us believe their interest is the people's. But like an abusive spouse, that interest ends where disagreement begins.

The Chinese people deserve better. Since they can't safely call for regime change, outsiders must on their behalf.

'Reeducation' is what Uighurs must feel towards a party actively exterminating them. Not quite guitars burn. Percussion stays aggressive.

'Don't Disagree' is the plight of all in China. Dissenting views stay hidden, perhaps like the song's 9/4 signature.

'What Does Suffering Bring' is when time and oppression devolve to grief. Vocals are smeared like cries from a concentration camp.

'Simple Solutions 3' is drum, bass, industrial, and bird for the entirety of China's struggle. There's grandeur, but also haunting.

All songs written and produced by Nick Notis. Additional pedal work on 'Reeducation' by Brandon Busch. Additional instrumentation on 'Reeducation' by Tethys Notis.
